Seven Wonders of the Ancient World

Six of the seven ancient wonders are gone or uncertain. These profiles are honest about what remains: one great pyramid, a few columns, some foundations, a harbour, a fortress built from fallen stone, and a mystery.

Where this list comes fromHellenistic Greek tradition (travel-guide lists) — Classical canon, standardised by later writers. Lists circulated from the 2nd century BCE onward. This is a classical tradition rather than an official designation. Only the Great Pyramid of Giza survives substantially. The other six are ruins, relocated remains, associated sites or, in the case of the Hanging Gardens, a place whose location and even existence are debated. Each profile states exactly what a visitor can see. Reference ↗
